Sepsibel complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of 25 May. This privacy policy aims to transparently inform users about the website
with address www.sepsibel.be (hereinafter referred to as the "website") and on how Sepsibel collects and processes personal data.
If you become a member or supporter of Sepsibel, make a donation, or provide personal data for any other reason (e.g. by contacting us via e-mail), you expressly consent on your
process data in line with this privacy policy.
Purpose and nature of data
As a result of your membership or contacts with Sepsibel, the following personal data are processed (=stored, stored, used,...)

- E-mail address
- Motivation to contact us: patient, family/acquaintance of patient
Your name and e-mail address will be used for answering questions or calls and further contact (invitation online contact) if you wish.
Your name and e-mail address will be used for sending invitations to events organised by Sepsibel or European/Global Sepsis Alliance or for providing
information e.g. in the form of newsletters.
Unsubscribing to these mailings is possible via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the communication.
In the capacity that another party requests contact details from us for the purpose of fighting sepsis (e.g. volunteer to testify at a sepsis congress), we will only do so with your
explicit consent.
Retention periods
The association processes and stores your personal data for the duration of your membership and for up to one year after its expiry. Immediately upon expiry of the aforementioned retention period, Sepsibel will destroy and/or anonymise your personal data, unless it is required by law (e.g. for the sake of non-profit organisations or tax legislation) to retain certain personal data for longer. In the latter case, only these specific personal data will be retained for the statutory retention period.
Security measures and processors
To protect your personal data, Sepsibel has taken appropriate technical and organisational measures. In this way, your personal data is protected against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against intentional loss, destruction or
damage.
Right of inspection, deletion, complaints and questions
- Right of inspection: at info@sepsibel.be, you may request to inspect, receive, amend or delete your personal data. Sepsibel will always process your request immediately and inform you, within one month of receipt, of the action taken on it.
- If you wish to object to the (further) processing of your personal data as described above, you may also contact info@sepsibel.be. Sepsibel will always consider your request immediately and, within one month of
receipt, inform about the action taken on it. - If you have any complaints about the way Sepsibel processes your personal data or handles your requests, you can contact info@sepsibel.be. If this does not lead to
a solution, you can of course always exercise your right to complain to the Privacy Commission or appeal to a competent court.
